October 2013 Visiting Teaching Message

This was an idea I had to throw together at the last minute. So it is not my usual standard of work but I think considering I had a day to do it and no money, I did pretty well.

As it is Spring is Australia, I decided to keep with the colourful pastels and floral designs.

Of course there has to be some chocolate.

I got this printable from somewhere but have been able to locate it since but I will add a link if I ever do find it again.

This message is pretty self explanatory to assemble but if you have any questions please feel free to ask :)

Happy Visiting Teaching!

Summer Crochet Baby Blanket

I made my first ever Crochet Blanket!
As I made this blanket for a baby that is due in summer I wanted it to be fairly light so I used 4 ply wool in robins egg blue for a baby boy.

This is my first ever crochet project so its not perfect but I think I did well for a first timer.
I did 30 rows of double stitch and then doubled the double stitch in the last 2 rows to make it look ruffly.

My lovely mum taught me how to do this as I am not fluent in the crochet language so I do not have a pattern but a big thank you to my mummy for her help!

How to make your headphones tangle-free and pretty

This is actually super simple but can be really time consuming.

All you need is about 16 meters of embroidery floss in the colour you like. You don't have to use bobbins but the floss can get tangled easily so I recommend you do. They are super cheap so its not a huge inconvenience.

So you start by tying a simply knot at the very top. Do not cut the excess thread off. It will hold the knot in place and I will show you how to hide it.

After you have tied the first knot all you have to do is tie another knot around the headphone wire and the excess floss.

It will hide the excess floss and hold the knot in place.

Continue tying knots around the headphone wire until you have covered them completely.

Simples ;)

September 2013 Visiting Teaching Message

So I finally got a vt companion and a few sisters to visit. I got very excited and made the message something special.

So for this I used 12"x12" scrapbooking card that is double sided. As it is the first month of Spring I went for a Spring theme with floral card. I folded the scrapbooking card up a third of the way. Then folded it into thirds so the message and chocolate would sit in their spots.

I also bought a shimmering pink scrapbooking card, cut it into three pieces and wrapped the pieces tight around the folded message and sticky taped at the back.

I bought some thick yellow ribbon and tied it around the pink cut outs for a finishing touch.

I used the flyer section of Vista Print to make the message and picked a spring theme flyer to keep in tone with the rest of the message.

Cupcake Stall

At Goodstart Early Learning in Hampton Park they have an open day once a year for small businesses to advertise to the public. Mum and I had a small stall set up for our cupcake business. This unfortunately was the only picture I managed to get.
